I couldn't finish the book. There is no way I could suspend my belief long enough to get into the plot.So a woman leaves an abusive man, steals a car then trades that car for a beat up truck from a nice old man. I can't see why that would trouble anyone right? I mean so the old man is driving a stolen car >Who cares right? The "heroine" gets away with it.
Then she is hired and paid by a bar owner under a fake name (no she doesn't have a fake ID or anything she just finds the one employer in the world that will hire her and pay her under the table). She then moves into the hero's house and in no way feels badly that she is using a fake name every minute she interacts with him. She has no moments of "Gosh I hope my past doesn't catch up with me or even worse HIM".
As I am trying to stick with the book hoping that she somehow gets a conscience or at least a clue the old boyfriend catches up to her and she sobs in a puddle as he kidnaps her....and THAT is where I deleted this book off my Kindle. Why on earth would I be rooting for such a self centered immature character who is supposed to be the heroine of the story?

This was a great lite read which you can easily get through in a day. The story holds your interest enough that I want to continue the McCade saga with the next two books. This book has a little of everything and some humor rounds off the whole story, so I recommend it highly to anyone who does not want a too detailed book to read on one of those lazy cold days that are coming up shortly this fall.
This book was slow. The first few chapters are very good, and then it slows down. The characters are ok. There isn't a lot of tension. As a reader you really don't get the feel that andi ever worried that she is lying, or that people will find out her secret.
I think that I desperately need a shot of insulin. This was truly one of the worst books I have read in quite a while. The characters were not at all likeable. The plot was ridiculous,and the execution was nauseating. The female lead steals a car and that crime is never addressed. She was also whiney and obnoxious and weak. I kept hoping this book would get better but it never did. Total waste of time. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this piece of drivel!
KELLEN IS RUNNING AS FAST AS SHE CAN FROM AN ABUSIVE BOYFRIEND. SHE ENDS UP IN A LITTLE DUSTY TEXAS TOWN. SHE IS INTRODUCED TO BELLE THE OWNER OF A LITTLE DINER, AND BELLE HELPS HER FIND A JOB. SHE CONTINUES TO LIE TO EVERYONE ABOUT WHO SHE IS A nd WHERE SHE IS FROM. EVERYONE IS NICE TO HER EXCEPT ON ONERY COWBOY, ZANE MC KADE, AND HE IS DOWNRIGHT GROUCHY. THIS IS CUTE STORY WITH A LOT CHARACTERS WHO ARE INTERESTING AND HELP THE STORY MOVE ALONG.
I loved this story very much it had everything I love in a romance, love, tears, laughter and sparks between your H/h. This story has all that and more, this series is awesome I read the second book in the series first and since they are all stand alone I didn't feel I was missing anything now I can't wait to hear Luke's story, he is so awesome and a wonderful brother. Zane and Andi are a great couple who really found love in each other and a trust in each other that they didn't have with anyone else. This was an amazing story, I loved every page.
Quit reading, TSTL lead female character. Kellan is running away from her abusive boyfriend. She steals a bright red Mercedes from a gas station, then parks it in front of a diner where she is having coffee. Needing a different vehicle, she sells the car to one of the locals in exchange for his truck. Absolutely no thought as to her actions, how big a trail she is leaving or how her actions impact others.
I doubt I will finish this book or be interested in other works in this series.

I purchased this one on an whim because I was needing a quick cowboy fix. If you've read modern western romance it is going to be predictable, but you will enjoy it just the same. This book was everything I wanted it to be. It has your typical out of place character fighting not to fall in love with someone who equally doesn't want to fall in love with them.... we all know how that ends up. It also contained the suspense of knowing your past will always come back to haunt you.
Still, Ms. Lewis finds ways to throw shockers into the plot. Andi is brave, strong and apparently into grand theft auto. We see a relatable and honest character through brief journal entries as they are mixed into the story of 'Zane'. Zane is salty and sweet all at the same time. He is a classic case of an incredibly confident man who has a heart of gold. Together, they strike sparks off each other from the beginning. Too bad their feisty and independent personalities get in the way at the start. But trust me, they make up for it - wink, wink.
Ms. Lewis takes an average, seen before plot and turns it into a fairy-tale romance. The courting seems to take a natural course, the love hard love between family members, and a strong backbone of the heroine make this book. When you turn the final page you will feel giddy all over and appreciate the escape. This was a perfect read for some relaxing down time.
The one thing I couldn't quite get passed in this plot was that Andi steals a car and seemingly gets away with it. Even heroines escaping the hands of a dangerous man can't ignore the justice system, or maybe they can? It is fiction after all.
Yet another series I am sure to fall in love with.
